If they did marry, it would have interesting implications for the future of the dynasty. Both because of the general risk of repeated inbreeding (James's parent being half first cousins and James and Arabella being full first cousins), and because James and Arabella both had health and behavior issues that have been speculated to be symptoms of porphyria (IMO, the case for Arabella having porphyria is much stronger than the case for James). If porphyria genes become fixed in the royal family's genetics, it's going to have consequences down the road.
