James Bond and Dirty Harry crossover.

We see various crossovers where comic book / sci-fi heroes and anti-heroes share the same universe.

Alien v Predator was one. Superman will be battling with Batman with Wonder Woman getting in on the scene in 'Dawn of Justice'. We also see this in certain TV dramas and comedies here an established character from major show appears as the same character in another hit show.

Suppose it's the 1970's. You have the crazy idea of Bond and Harry collaborating? Or better still, clashing?

How would it work? Bond in San Francisco? Harry in London? Blofeld and his henchmen unleash a plot in SF resulting in several SFPD cops being killed including Harry's partner. Bond under orders steps in, but Harry is suspicious and initially refuses Bond's help.

They both ultimately know they have to work together however...

Harry is Clint Eastwood. Bond is.....Connery or Moore?

I really like this idea, but I sort of feel like Connery or Moore are the wrong fit. Timothy Dalton would be better, but Daniel Craig would be the most ideal.

The best time for any sort of crossover would have been with Moore in the 70s and I don't really see those two styles mixing at the time, Bond was in its most campy era by that point and Dirty Harry was a gritty cop movie.

Maybe something with Dalton in the late 80s. Rewrite License to Kill where Bond is sent California after an international drug lord and works with Harry.

Yeah, that's right around Dead Pool time as well...

Agreed. Sean Connery and Roger Moore portrayed Bond as a suave ladykiller superspy, whereas Harry Callaghan is a badass anti-hero. There's too much style clash for the Connery/Moore take Bond to work with Eastwood's take on Dirty Harry. Either you have to rework The Living Daylights or License to Kill or wait for the post-Brosnan reboot and Daniel Craig. Those are your only options.

Okay, I'll accept Tim Dalton. I liked him a lot as Bond. Peirce Brosnan and Dan Craig out of the picture for the obvious reason that Eastwood was out of the Dirty Harry game by then.

Unless.....we have a new Dirty Harry! Sacrilege to some perhaps. BUT if so, who?

Dalton and Eastwood, I like it...

Dalton - Eastwood is your best change if then you don't want change Eastwood to someone else. And hardly many would accept that. With Craig Eastwood would be over seventy.

If then you don't want portrait Eastwood as retired cop. So it might be close mixation of James Bond movies and Gran Torino.

How about Liam Neeson?

How about Liam Neeson? He and Eastwood were both in The Dead Pool in 1988... an Irish Bond?

Best,

Suppose Dalton had taken the role at age 21, as was discussed IOTL, and was made into the same grittier Bond as he was later IOTL. This would put 70s Bond movies more in line with Dirty Harry, making a crossover more feasible.

Connery could have worked. Never Say Never Again had a gritty vibe to it.

The thing that has the hardest time meshing in my mind is the action in the two franchises. Bond, even in the Dalton films was over the top violent, while Dirty Harry was violent but rather down to earth.
