Jackson in the Valley: an alternate history of the CSA

Yeah basically. I think I might just leave this thread. It's most certainly proved to me I am an idiot, and not suited to alternate history writing.

No one is born so. I can tell you the secret in one word...research.

Stick around.

Indeed, you could do far worse for your first attempt. Also, you haven't responded by flipping your lid at everyone with criticisms, which is a major plus. Stick around.

A street battle favors the side with more reserves and the defender, that is the Union (all other times the Confederates were defending)

Why would the fall of one of the greatest fortresses in North America and the cutting in two of the CSA not effect European opinion

Why would great Britain want to recognize the CSA, they are importing corn from the Union and their trade with the Union is worth far more than with the CSA

Philadelphia is 100 miles from Gettysburg, even Harrisburg is 40, given Lee's stressed logistic situation I don't think he can advance that far and still have ammo to fight with after fighting a major battle

And of course, if Lee advances towards Philadelphia, so will the Army of the Potomac.

I don't think Lee is doomed in a campaign here, but his options do not include rapid and overwhelming victory without trouble.

It would be interesting to set up an alt-Gettysburg campaign, but it needs more than "Lee wins at Gettysburg and the Union folds."
