J.P. Morgan dies on the Titanic

Thanks, anti-Fed conspiracy theorists for teaching me this factoid:

Morgan, who had attended the Titanic's launching in 1911, had a personal suite aboard the ship with his own private promenade deck and a bath equipped with specially designed cigar holders. He was reportedly booked on the ship's maiden voyage but instead canceled the trip and remained at the French resort of Aix-les-Bains to enjoy his morning massages and sulfur baths.[7]

What happens if he does board, and isn't rescued?

Well, Morgan died just shy of a year later on March 31, 1913. His presence and death might add to the legend of the sinking, but the actual effect would in reality be rather small. His son takes over his business empire a year earlier. His death, despite owning the holding company that owned White Star, might be seen as somewhat noble given this.

Very possibly, the USA might not enter World War I though it was desired by those like J. P. Morgan and thus somebody else would probably help push the states to war.

One thing to keep in mind about this is the man on the Titanic with the best chance by far of getting on a lifeboat would have been JP Morgan.

The only way he goes down with the ship is that he decides he is going down with the ship, which in hindsight would have been the best decision because he had only a year to live anyway, though he probably wouldn't have known this.

Was Morgan the type to give up his seat for others? Of course some of the first lifeboats to be released were severely under capacity for various reasons.

Morgan surviving the Titantic could severely harshen his image. Many of the men who survived were ridiculed and hated afterwards for the crime of living when women and children had died.
