J. D. Tippit stays for lunch

Unlikely the Cubans would allow him into the country. And if he were somehow smuggled in under Castro's nose, well, that could get ugly quick. If Fidel finds out before the Americans do, and is able to arrest him, things might be okay. But supposing the Americans catch wind of it first? If the leadership stays level-headed about it, they might be able to gently urge the Cubans to arrest him, and extradite him back to the US. Fidel Castro was apparently pretty shaken up about the assassination himself, and he was worried that it could lead to war. This by itself would be incentive to extradite him, not to mention the fact that the Soviets already knew about Lee Harvey Oswald, and would presumably urge Castro to do so. But if things don't go so neatly, I suppose it could be used as a pretext to invade Cuba.
I would agreed that having Oswald in the Cuba would near enough Castro's biggest nightmare however what the heck does he do with him?

Castro makes a big deal of condemning assassinations of Heads of State (put that in your cigar and smoke it, CIA!) and publically hands over this major fugitive who fled into his country.
"How did he get into Cuba? Why, it was the US authorities who let him leave in the first place...."

Yeah, you know you may very well be on the money with that

Where was Lee Harvey Oswald going after he got his pistol? Did he plan on going back to work? Would he have tried to shoot it out with the police when they tried to detain him at his job?

He seems to have been moving pretty fast so maybe he had somewhere in mind, but he's no DB Cooper. Either he's gets very lucky, or he falls down a hole somewhere, or gets drowned crossing a river or something like that. Anyway, the premise is that the President is dead and the killer has got away.

What if Oswald never left the TSBD? He could have stayed in the building and later claimed to have been in the bathroom. The only reason the police went looking for him was because he went missing. Oswald could then claim the police arrested him because he was a communist. Of course the police would have found his rifle but maybe Oswald could have bought himself a few hours. He could claim the rifle was stolen and planted by the police. I know it’s a pretty flimsy excuse but better than being charged with shooting a police officer.
Another option is what if Oswald let Tippit take him in? Oswald could have gave Tippit his BS fake Selective service card and been taken to jail. Once again Oswald can tell his story of being harassed by the police and FBI. I think Oswald would have admitted to killing the President OTL if Jack Ruby had not shot him. He would have said he was smarter than Castro and the Soviets.
