It's time "If It Had Happened Otherwise" was republished

If It Had Happened Otherwise by J. C. Squire was the first ever AH book, a collection of essays by people including Hillare Belloc, G. K. Chesterton and Winston Churchill, published in 1931.

It's been out of print since 1972 in the UK and 1974 in the US. A second-hand copy would cost you about £60 or $100. You won't be able to find it in your local library.

If anyone is interested in lobbying to get it back into print, the owners of the publication rights are Macmillan in the UK and St. Martin's Press in the US. You can contact them via their websites. I just did.

Oh, and if you're wondering what the book is like, it's a real mixed bag. there are some very well thought out counterfactuals, and some that are just silly or wishful thinking.
