Italy does not go Fascist

Could Italy have remained a more or less democracy?

If not a Fascist state how much does it change.

Any difference to Hitler?

Is it decisive in preventing the Right winning the Spanish Civil War?

I would think Hitler would have invaded a democratic Italy and Spain. This expands the war and drains German resources.

Given butterflies Hitler probably won't come to power in Germany

The Republicans probably will win the Spanish Civil War

Well Italy as an ally was important for Germany's Anschluss, so an Italy not allied to Nazi Germany would throw a major wrench in German expansionism if Hitler did manage to use his powers to escape the butterflies.

Mussolini was also a major inspiration for lots of fascist movements globally, so its quite hard to measure just how radically this POD would alter history. Communism might be stronger in the short term in Europe and democracies more prevalent, but some form of fascism would likely take over some half important country as a backlash and serve the role to inspire fascists worldwide in the way Mussolini historically did.

italy becomes alie:s with the united staes and british empire but spain goes witht he side of japan and germany.toward"s the end of the war italy:s resource>s were drained out and preisdent truman gave the
government thousand>s of dollar:s of aid. the country was worn torn having fought off a battle with the nazie"s.they were brave alies though.

Since Franco's armies in North Africa was airlifted to Spain by Italy, the SCW as we know it is butterflied away.

If the King call Benny bluff at Rome and arrest him with all the other fascist leader, basically destroying the PFI there is still the socialist (plus the fascist remnants); a period of political violence will follow, with a crackdown of the socialist with an authoritarian goverment with the direct imput of the king at least for a while.
After that a period of normalization will come, with probably the same series of brief and weak goverment like the French.

Any difference to Hitler?

Well anti-semitism will be a non issue, expecially of the nazi type as a so important place of the race on the ideology programm

Without all the aid that Benny give to Franco, there is a lot of chance that the Republicans will win...after that (more brief civil war) probably another will arise between anarchist, the communist and the other if the friend of Stalin don't purge/eliminate the other factions before the end of the war. This can make Stalin more adventurous, as the Republican failure made him very skeptical on aid foreign communist/left party on take power.
