in the face of groving fashist and squadrist agression the italian comunist and socialist parties decide to stand united against the fashist movement, despite the schism in 1921, fortifying the preexistant united front
after sarzana, just as mussolini reorganises the blackshirts, the PSI and PCdI rally their numbers, send directives to all comities and subcomities to unify and coordinate the workers resistance, and send an apel to lenjin for more arms
more sindical militias form and take ower factories, and by party directives more organisations such as the guardie rosse and arditi are formed
firence, empoli, parma, genova, trieste and numerous other burgs and factory towns put out the red or often the red and black flags
in and around rijeka and opatia the republica sovietica di fiume is formed and istra splits into peices as the left, backed when in need by the slavic population, resists dannuncio with arms
most of the movement is spontaneous and the PSI/PCdI olnly have to put their squables aside for a moment and direct the resistance
what seemed to mussolini as a quick fight to power turns into an open war on the streets, in the hills, and in the forests
in sicilly the local separatist movement joins the fight and mafia backed partisans take mountain vilages and there is fighting in the citty streets
in sardinia the indipendezia republica di sardinia is proclaimed after the last fashists are shot in the back of the head and disposed of
the king sends the army to calm things but in numerous places the soldiers side with the population and there is major desertion
at first it still seems as if the fashist are winning but a series of losses, mainly due to general chaos and underestimation of the oponent, make the left wictorious in seweral regions including toscana, many towns in veneto, friuli, liguria, parts of puglia, and emilia romagna especially parma, even parts of lacio
fearing the rise of comunism france and england openly endorce mussolini and send arms and money, WWI is still a sore wound on european economy and in the largest part there is a tendency to stand aside and limit action to political suport of fashism
on the other side the soviet union sends arms by all possible chanels and help comes from yugoslavia, both from the comunist party, but also, covertly by the monarchy, seeing this as a oportunity to undermine italian ambitions thowards dalmacia, while at the same time cracking down on its own comunists
by 1925 the war is still on
who wins where?
any further ideas?
why not make maps?
bonus points if istra sardegna sicilia napoli and rome, and possibly milano become indipendant
what would germany do if it went on till 1933
and how would this affect the weymar republick?
