Italian American POTUS?

Where would an Italian-American President come into play in American History.

My best guess would be Mario Cuomo in 1984 or 1988 (He actually ran in one of the Primaries)

Others, mostly current might be...

-Rudy Giuliani (Vote 2012!!)
-Rick Lazio
-Janet Napolitano
-Andrew Cuomo
-Fiorello La Guardia (In the 30's or 40's)
-Al D'Amato (Senator of NY in the 1980's)
-James Florio

Any others?

In the President Reagan in 1968 timeline, there was an Italian President following Reagan (the career of which I know, the name I do not).

Pre-2000, it could only have been Cuomo. But the timing was wrong, Cuomo's zenith came during the middle of the Reagan period. If Cuomo had peaked in, say, 1992, then it might have been him, not Clinton, who challenged Bush 41.

Cuomo was too much of a New Yorker to be elected, so you need him to run against a very unpopular, dumb Republican in the middle of an economic crisis...say Reagan is shot and killed in 1981, Bush proves to be an incompetent bufoon, etc.

That would require a POTUS Andreotti or Craxi, or any Italian PM post-Moro. Let's not even discuss the incumbent Italian PM...
