I'm wondering if this projected USN building program is feasible (for shipyards) & reasonable (appealing to isolationists & for job creation). If it is, what would you expect the foreign response to be?

Starting in 1936:

  1. eight battleships (layout like above; two to be laid down each year for the next four years, beginning with BB-49)
  2. sixteen Wichitas (four each year for the next four years, beginning with CA-49)
  3. sixteen Clevelands (four each year, beginning with CL-65)
  4. fifteen *Intrepids (three each yer the next five years, beginning with CV-7)
  5. 150 destroyers (a repeat of the Porters, beginning with DD-394, thirty each year for the next five years)
  6. 115 repeat Dolphin-class submarines (eight each year, beginning with SS-174)
  7. ten Cimarron-class fleet oilers (to enter service beginning in 1938)
  8. ten new sub tenders (to enter service beginning in 1938, to accompany the first new Dolphins)
  9. opening new torpedo factories in Alexandria, Virginia, & Keyport, Washington
  10. improving facilities at Wake & Midway
