In September 1185, the last Komnenian Byzantine Emperor, Andronikos I, ordered his aide Stephen Hagiochristophorites to arrest the future Emperor Isaakios II Angelos on charges of treason. Historically, Isaakios slew Stephen and took refuge in the Hagia Sophia, where he convinced the populace of Constantinople to overthrow their Emperor. If Hagiochristophorites had succeeded in capturing Isaakios, would Andronikos then remain on the throne for a few more years, or would his rising unpopularity eventually do him in?
