Is There Honey Still For Breakfast?

'The recents events have made it to us that the situation cannot continue. We owe it to the public to ensure that they get a worthwhile service.

The IBA has today therefore decided to revoke TV-AM's licence to broadcast. The station will close at 9.25 AM on the 31st of October 1984"

John Whitney, Managing Director IBA

This thread will look at how Breakfast TV in the UK could have looked if the IBA had removed TV-AM's licence to broadcast and started a new breakfast programme as opposed to a franchise in 1985

The IBA had been so badly embarrassed by the TV-AM debacle that it led to a radical rethink of the way in which ITV's breakfast would be in the future. There had to be a breakfast provision otherwise the BBC would be crowing. A series of discussions took place at Brompton Road over what to do. In the meantime ITV provided a makeshift service.
