Is there any way for Mussolini to prevent the 1943 coup?

In 24 July 1943 the Grand Fascist Council adopted a motion proposed by Dino Grandi with votes 19-7 to depose Mussolini and allow Victor Emmanuel III to assume full constitutional powers. The King appointed Pietro Badoglio as Prime Minister and 1,5 month later Italy capitulated and switched sides...

Is there any possible way for Mussolini to have prevented this coup?

He and Hitler dont send that huge army in tunisia just in time to be captured by the allies, then they manage to defend sicily, defeating allied invasion.
There is no other way.

Isnt it possible to have suspected anything or he would be informed somehow that Dino Grandi is about to impeach him so he could strike first by removing opposition from the Council?

Staying neutral through all of WWII.....

I have to agree with Snake. Mussolini should have followed Franco's example in Spain and kept his head down. Allying himself with Germany was not the smartest of moves. Neither was his invasion of Greece or Egypt.

Before the war Mussolini was a powerful respected leader, the war made him one of the most reviled men in Italy.

He could've prevented the 1943 coup, by the simple mesure of taking his bodyguards with him to the meeting & arresting eveyone who spoke out against him. When after the meeting his supporters urged him to have Grandi etc arrested.

OTL Mussolini seemed almost indifferent when he was denounced by the Fascist Grand Council, though he was prone to these odd periods of lethargy form time to time.
