Is Anybody Aware?

I was wondering if anybody knew the full alliances between countries in the 19th century. The only thing I'm aware of is how, during the second opium war, Britain and France got close together but Bismark turned them against each other after 1871. (on further thought, another thing I know is how the US was allied with France and against Britain; but that's all I know.) If there is anyone who is fully aware of the diplomatic connections and alliances amongst the Western nations from the Congress of Vienna to the Eight-nation Alliance, fill me up with the information. Thank you!:D

Best advice is scroll through wikipedia as yours looking at a big time span where France and Britain go for mortal enemies to best buddies so there is alot!

I've maps of the Bismarck system and of the alliances before 1914, but I'm not sure it's what you're looking for.

I'm looking for the "balance of power":Were there any brief sorts of 'Triple Entente-Triple Alliance' style military alliance between countries? (After Vienna Conference, before 8-Nation Alliance)

You're maybe looking for Holy Alliance (known as Third, then Quadruple, finally Quintuple Alliance) between Russia, Prussia, Austria plus Great Britain, plus France?

I think I understand what the OP is going for, the problem is as Highgarden pointed out, there were massive shifts in international opinion over this 85 year period. It's incredibly difficult to summarize in a short post, but a good place to start would be:

The Holy Alliance
The Dual Entente
The Triple Alliance
The Dreikaiserbund

You'll notice that all of these only cover the beginning and end of the period you asked about. This is because the middle section ~1848-1880 was dominated by wars in which two great powers grabbed their minor allies and fought it out effectively one-on-one (Franco-Prussian War, 1877 Russo-Turkish War etc.). Arguably the notable thing about this era was the failure of balancing coalitions to really form or function, until it became apparent that France vs. Germany was going to be the big future rivalry. The only real exception I can think of was the Crimean War.

So if the OP is asking with regards to some sort of proto-World War One alliances forming in an ATL, then it's really going to depend entirely on opinions at the time alliances formed. After all the UK and France were allies in Crimea (1853), nearly fought a war over the Fashoda Crisis (1898) then signed the Entente Cordiale in 1904. Likewise Germany and Russia were allies into the 1880s but enemies in 1892. So really it's a complicated time.

Not to ramble on forever, but the only other part I will address of the OP's post, is that the U.S.A. maintained no formal alliances with any European country during this time, preferring instead the policy behind the Monroe Doctrine.

The format I was thinking about was something like this:
1810s. All are against Napoleonic France.
1820s.????
1830s.
1840s.
1850s. All are against Russian advance in Turkey
1860s. France and Britain close together
1870s. France supports Japanese shogunate, Britain supports Japanese radicals
1880s. Germany brings all against France, France tries to be closer to Russia
1890s.
1900s. All European nations try to secure some hold over China

So, I'm finding your proposed format confusing. On the one hand you've got some gross oversimplifications like your notion that "1850s. All are against Russian advance in Turkey" when in fact only Britain and France, of the traditional great powers, opposed Russia. On the other you have super specific situations like "1870s. France supports Japanese shogunate, Britain supports Japanese radicals". Besides the fact that this happened in the 1860s, this was of almost no importance outside Japan and didn't affect Franco-British relations.

So I guess I don't know what you're looking for. I'll refer you to my prior post for a rough summary of the era, but anything more in depth than that you'll need to ask specifically i.e. the general course of a specific country's foreign affairs over this time, or a more specific span of time.

Sure. I certainly agree I was oversimplifying the complex map of diplomacy. Probably avarice on my part to find something that was easy to understand... seems an easier question to ask would be: how close were the French with its allies (Russia, Britain, etc) during the 1850s~1880s? Or is this too much to ask?:(
