Irish Beat Italian Mafiosa

This is half tounge in cheek, but the Irish immigrants & their children fought their way to economic independance & political power in the 19th Century US. The Italian immigrants brought a new wav of tough and fiercely independant with their own style of extra legal operation. Is there any way the establisihed Irish ancestored Americans can prevent the existance of the Italian America organized crime?

Either way, or others. The Irish had their earlier criminal gangs, which had their differences from the Italian or Sicilian versions. Alternately there was the 'Irish' influence in early 20th Century law enforcement. Carrying that to the extreme archetype the police departments of many US cities were Irish gangs.
