If Ireland became independent earlier, say perhaps in 1867 at the time of the Fenian Uprising (unlikely I know), how would Britain have faired during the First World War? Considering that Ireland contributed up 200,000 men to the war effort between 1914-1918 and considering their historical neutrality since independence, would Britain have been able to sustain the combined casualties of the Western Front and the war against the Turks without Ireland's input?
