Invade the Soviet Union

Okay, so the original thread idea was a Alien Space Bats (It was a reverse Red Dawn and I posted it in the wrong place). Because I don't really know how to delete a thread, I thought I could at least try and salvage it.

Okay, so with a PoD of no earlier than the 1960's, could the United States and her allies (NATO) invade the Soviet Union? Doesn't have to be a large scale Red Dawn invasion, but what events could lead to an invaded Soviet Union, and what would the outcome of this be?

Movie right? not as quite ASB as you think, just look for soviet era propaganda movie for internal consumption who portay US-led coalitions doing nazi salute and invade Soviet Union with surprisingly Nazi-like sudden, blitzkrieg attack...

I don't care what the circumstances are, the outcome is nuclear fire. Even up to today. For that matter, Red Dawn would have ended in nuclear fire. Nobody nukes Washington and gets away with it.

Just for kicks, there is a US-led invasion of Russia after the nuclear fire in the book Arc Light, which has become one of my favorites.

Shame it was insinuated as a Military invasion.

Of course, there's nothing to stop an invasion of sorts...

Elvis, (with tacit State department/CIA approval), visits East Berlin after he has finished his Military service and plays a concert there.
This is followed later by visits to Prague and Sarajevo.
Khrushchev invites Elvis to perform in Moscow.

The Rock and Roll invasion of the Soviet Union is begun. Later, the Beatles, Rolling Stones play Moscow, (where Back in the USSR is deemed to be a socially acceptable song).

This would lead to a growth in western style teenage rebellion which is stamped on, hard, especially by Brezhnev. Cue even more stroppy teenagers thinking it's cool, so on and so forth.

A cultural invasion sounds so much more interesting then a military invasion, not going to lie. Curious, could Brezhnev's suppression lead to a full on rebellion against Brezhnev?

The cultural invasion suggestions remind me of that one line from Die Hard.

Takagi: "Pearl Harbor didn't work out so we got you with tape decks."
