Now this could be a tough idea to get our heads around and truth be told I am not sure if this is the most appropriate forum for this thread but I was thinking today about how the internet connects people of the world, and how communication and information is so different than it was in the real 1939 so I was wondering how the internet would have affected WW2, if computers had existed but for some reason really not been apart of the military yet, at least not in a big way, but the way the internet is setup thousands of soldiers from opposing sides are able to communicate via social media and such. Would this affect how the soldiers reacted when meeting the enemy, or how they viewed the entire conflict?
Also things like how would secrecy go as I am imagining a German Panzer officer taking a selfy with a Russian military strongpoint in the background on the 20th of June 1941 with the caption "These Russians won't know what hit them. YOLO"
I am not sure how this thread will go because of how computers have affected everything but in this instance I am really interested to know how communication between enemy troops would have changed WW2, or even civilians from all the countries in Europe, along with everyone having smart phones taking videos of everything that was happening.
Would 21st century communication have changed WW2 completely?
