So, long time lurker here. I honestly forgot this account existed for quite some time and only remembered it a few days ago. So, why not make something useful of it, yes? Anyways, I've been trying to dissect information about Charles Emil, Prince Elector of Brandenburg, since I read a thread about him from here a while ago whilst browsing before I made this account. I've ordered the book that was recommended in December from Amazon but it has yet to appear. I forgot the name of the book. Since this would be my first TL, would anyone be willing to help me, considering this will be concerning things that is just out of my control. Would anyone be willing to help me with the research and outline?

Okay. This is an era is outside of my normal area of expertise, and there may be 17th century historians on here that might be able to help you more with the context and such. BUT: I do have my LiS MS and so I might be of some use in helping you find things, or give you some good hints on what tools to use for research (and I am working on a PhD not, so I have access to databases and the like). Drop me a line if that would be useful for you.

Thanks. I'd heard some ideas from the threads I read that I'll need some confirmation on.

Gutenberg and archive.org are your friend if you do not have a book looking for the history of prussia seems relevant
I found this of his grand father george http://www.gutenberg.org/files/59929/59929-h/59929-h.htm#c19
https://archive.org/details/ironkingdomrised00chri/page/50 this book has some indirekt information mostly abouth his dad tough
https://archive.org/details/reignofgreatelec00mhiala/page/n8/mode/2up again mostly his dad

From what I can see, there is apparently no mention of Charles Emil or Frederick in either book. Thanks for the links though. This is the book I ordered, though it has yet to arrive : https://www.amazon.com/SOLDIER-KINGS-House-Hohenzollern/dp/3779680246 At least, one of the participants in the thread directly referenced it several times, so I think it could be a good source.

So, I've been recently binging the series Versailles on Netflix and the show has given me some ideas for the TL, though I think German Royalty was a little less accepting about having mistresses than French Royalty, but anyone can feel free to correct me (plus I don't think the show is that historically accurate, unless I'm wrong). I'd thought I'd try writing it in the same style of the Show covering Charles from 1674-1688 and afterwards if need be. Of course, you can decide what my first TL will be written as, due to me having no real clue on how to write it. Once I have sufficient research, however, I'll be sure to write the Timeline as much as possible.
