Indus Valley Civilization recovers before the Aryans arrival

Indus Valley collapsed before the migration of the Indo-European Aryans who arrived from the Eurasian Steppe, after the collapse of the Indus Valley Civilization, first conquering a complex of an older settlement called BMAC, after which the group split into three, Iranian, Indo-Aryan and the Nuristani groups.

If the Indus Valley Civilization, covering Pakistan, India and parts of Afghanistan did recover and rebuild before the arrival of the Aryans from the Eurasian Steppes for whatever reasons including Aryans spending more time in the Steppes or the Indus Valley rebuilding quickly after the collapse due to Climatic reasons or anything like that, what could be the effects? Would the Aryans be inspired by the advancement of the Indus Valley and start building their own versions or try to conquer the built up ones? What could be the immediate and long lasting ethnic, social, religious and migrational effects in the whole region from Persia, Central Asia to India?

Problem is there is a bit of handwavium involved in this scenario. The downfall of the IVC were the climactic changes had rendered the Ghaggar-Hakra/Sárasvatī to break apart and dry, impacting the ability for the cities that existed along these river systems to support their population. Immense variations in the monsoon rains also led to two-crop rotation of mainly rice and millet as summer crops and wheat and barley as winter crops to break down completely and cause an end to the urbanisation of this period. If the IVC can be diviepded into three rough spheres and contamperously related material cultures, the Mohenjo-Daro, Harappa and Dholavira cultures, only the last one seemed to preserve their material culture in Gujarat, the mouth of the Indus and the northernmost reaches of Maharashtra past 2000 BCE. Even then it slowly declined by 1200 BCE as it gave way to later material cultures. How did they do this? As they spread further south and east they became ruralized, abandoning heavier concentrations of populations and settling in small townships and villages.

So it’s a geological POD in a way. But for arguments sake let’s say that this collapse doesn’t occur, what happens? Most likely the Indo-Aryans get susbsumed into the greater IVC sphere, probably concentrated around the Harappans culture and reside as a massive influx of citizenry, providing technological innovations such as domesticated horses, an axled chariot and their strange gods. Words from the embryonic Rigveda will massively influence the local tongue but will instead act as a superstate offering a tonne of loanwords. Some cities would end up being ruled by IVC-style priest kings (or whatever their unknown political system was) of Aryan descent but not much changes in the short term. Maybe beyond Shortugai and in some hills of the Afghan highlands proper Indo-European tribes still arise. Expect a much greater influx of Indo-Europeans in to the Iranian plateau. As the Mittani prove the split between Indo-Aryans and the Iranians occurred prior to migrations so we might see the two cousin cultures settle different parts of the plateau.

Also nitpick but the Nuristanis split didn’t happen at the same time as the Indo-Iranian one. It was from Proto-Proto-Indo-Aryan that the Proto-Indo-Aryan and Nuristani split happened. Not a major thing but an important one, due to the inheritance of retroflexes in the language from the areal feature that’s present in all languages on the Indian subcontinent.

SARASWATI- prologue (beta)

''Maruts administrating the restoration of Capital which was destroyed by yesterday earth-quake, he was head of the department of water-management in Meluha kingdom .his department main work was to conserve as much water he from rain and also from Saraswati river which is continue dying. Everyone knows when Saraswati when full from water kalibanaga(capital) neighbour Village was full from people but today the village is vacant without man, farmers are leaving towards the east in search of land, the everyday council sate to discuss for sifting capital from Kalibanga.
Sir, there is water entering the city from the river.
What how can water enter from the river, it is not the time for rain idiot, it will come in another 2 moons and if it comes the water reserve are dry they will be first filled then water will come in the city.
But sir its entering city sir.
If my time is wasted due to this then you know what happens.
I travel by the main road towards the river bank. The water is increasing with force.

Some day later-after expanding water reserve lake in the capital. an expanding launch by the cities council in the river towards north to see what caused a flood in summer. the peoples of the bank started to expand their farm in preparation of next harvest. at somewhere at the northeast we found the cause of the flood, the Yamuna river was bifurcated due to the earthquake, and a branch joins the river Saraswati.
Water crisis ended but the council of the cities does not close our department, our work is increase for developing new settlement on the side of the river and creating a chain of the canal to redevelop field which left due to low rain.
The capital was further sifted south and made on the bank of Aravali for security against barbarian from the north-west.''

The Aryans may not enter the IVC regions and neither may the IVC kings and people like it much, if they are strong. I think the most probable situation could be Aryans settling Central Asian and Iranian Rivers and conquering the greener Pontic-Caspian Steppes, Tarim Basin, Sogdia establishing civilizations there.

The religion may be very speculative but could tend to Monistic Monotheism like Zoroastrianism. The religious makeup of Indian subcontinent could look very different and tend Polytheistic.

This is what I think could happen. Otherwise, the Aryans could launch a full blown conquest against the Indus Valley Civilization if they weaken and get access to emptier lands in the Central and south India.
