I hope many of the people here have already know about Slamet's hijacking on Mr Hola's "The Konfrontasi escalates", turning it from an "obligatory Indonesian baseless terrorism on Australia" thread into an "American (will be) invasion of Indonesia" TL.

This thread is basically inspired by Slamet's TL
As you may have already known, IOTL, thanks to the event of assassination against 6 of 7 most important Indonesian military leaders of the time, which is well known as G30S/"PKI", had paved a way for Suharto to gain power, which eventually led Indonesia to become a west leaning country as the ultimate result. Many times it has been thought that Suharto was backed by the Americans, because this would (and certainly did) save the Americans from facing a problem much greater than Vietnam.
However, what if the OTL events above didn't happen for whatever reason. But instead, for that whatever reason US eventually chose to commence direct intervention in order to prevent communism from taking over Indonesia. Of course unless a miracle happens, American campaign on Indonesia would surely be an absolute disaster. US wouldn't be able to include South East Asia into its sphere of influence, and this would mean long term consequences on the global level.
What is interesting me the most, is these things happened during the times when America was having their "Flower Generation" in the mainland, in which the Vietnam War surely had a role in this. What influence would an Indonesian War brought to the American homeland however ? Surely almost nobody has never thought of this, no ?
While I'm most interested in the cultural impacts resulted from an American invasion of Indonesia during the 60s era, there are also many other things. Such as the inevitable absence of ASEAN, fates of the South East Asian nations aftermath, East Asian politics and eventually the whole history of the Cold War era beyond...
