Indo-Americans

So not sure if this idea could work, im kind of doubting it could.

So the basic premises is farming is only devolped in China. Second Indo-Europeans go east instead of west, going near China only to be pushed further and further north until (without Chinese help) lost and seeking hope they cross the frozen Bering Strait and arriving in the Americas with horses, cattle and some knowledge of farming.

So is in any way possible?

And how could Europe/Middle-East/India develop without farming? And how would Europeans actually look?

One if farming only developed in China, it would just mean that proto-Chinese would spread west into India, the Middle East and Europe. While they likely would interbreed with the local population, we woul likely see thewidespread epicanthic fold being common in all Euroasian populations. Traits like blondness and blue eyes would likely still develop in North European populations. But there are no way to keep agriculture out of westen Euroasian and North Africa.

The Indo-European on the other hand was a agricultural/pastorial people, and would likely not develop without the spread of agriculture to their original homeland.

some indo-europeans did migrate east, like the tocharians.

i think it would be extremely difficult to stop farming from spreading, or existing, anywhere outside china, especially since most finds suggest it arose in mesopotamia and egypt before it did in china. but then, if the indo-europeans went into india, why shouldn't they head toward china? i don't think you need to stop farming, i don't even think you need there to be a reason besides they simply would go east.

if you are trying to achieve a native european population in the americas, you might only need to not have the bering land bridge happen at all. there is some evidence that suggests that the first homo sapiens to live in north america were european (likely very genetically different than today's though), from round-abouts 17000-20000 years ago. it's only a theory, but there is some genetic backing, and the finds of clovis-like spearheads in europe, particularly france. the theory is that these early europeans (who would not have blond hair or blue eyes, those traits had not evolved yet) canoed along the glaciers while hunting for seals. the way the oceans current works is that these canoes would lead people further west rather quickly along the glaciers. cave paintings show they definitely did hunt seal.

so what you might get, instead of indo-european, is a very very unrecognizable ancestor to the basques in the americas. it's only a theory, i don't know how valid it is cause i only know this from seeing a special on discovery.
