Indian Migration during British colonial rule

Is there any scenario in which a mass migration from the British Raj to the British Isles is possible in the early 20th century? Something akin to a labor shortage in the Isles creating a natural flow of migration, or even some national effort towards such by a government.

In my mind, the only way for it to happen on a large enough scale is for Britian to experience a labor shortage during the late 19th and early 20th century, and for a solution to be found in labourers from the Raj; and from there it spiraling into a mass migration.

Is the precondition for a labor shortage possible? Are there other ways in which a mass migration can manifest? If you wish to expand further, what effects might such a migration have socio-economicaly?

I don't see it. My understanding of OTL is that most South Asians in the UK did come directly from South Asia. They were loyal Indians who had left to work in various colonies such as East Africa. Sometimes they were born outside of the Raj. The end of Colonialism often made these countries unfriendly to the South Asians, so many moved to the British Isles.
