Will post in Scenarios & Timelines Section.
Really very sorry.

Actually there is nothing wrong with posting it here - Timelines & Scenarios forum is mainly for displaying already-finished or almost-finished timelines, but if you want the timelines to be subject to discussion, here is the place for it. You can develop a TL here, get some comments and such, and when you think it has developed enough and been polished enough, post it in Timelines & Scenarios forum, of course subject to the general criteria there.

Always good to see another person with an interest in India.

The one main problem I have with your scenario is the cultural and linguistic homogenisation of India- I think that might be a bit of a hard task.

How do the Indians stop the various invasions? Do they develop superior weapons? Maybe they get gunpowder from China?

For Indians to prevent invasions, the following are neccessary,
1.A Strong Empire in the North.
2.Agreement between kings to unite whenever ther is a threat from outside.
3.Strong fortifications in the North-west area.
4.A Mountain range similar to Himalayas in the North-west(of course that is alternate geography).
5.Also even there is a invasion the Indian society was able to digest the ALIENS into its psyche well, only islam took longer time for India to digest it(because at the time there was the best time for Hindu-Islam synthesis Aurangazeb delayed it by making things worse and British did thier best to prevent it from not happening.

I think a lot of people regarded the Indians as being military superior to just about everyone else. Just that the Afghans took them apart piecemeal.
I believe he mentioned the Marathas as cointrolling the South of India.
Aww... I was hoping for more Chola Empire goodness. :(

No chance of North and South being part of the same empire. There is too much ethinic, cultural and linguistic difference. The best chance is for two separate empires. One land power i.e. North India because of Manu Smriti, and a Southern Empire which is a Maritime power.

Also trade with Australia requires major butterflies. Even Indonesians did not trade much with them. Plus you POD is set in 1192. For PC to conquer the sub continent is akin to someone conquering Western Europe and the Balkans. Plus the Cholas control the South and the East and they had easily beaten the last major empire in the North, the Pala Empire.
