India and Pakistan go to war in 2001

After the 9/11 attacks, a lesser known terrorist attack happened. In India, some jihadists started an attack on India's Parliament, leading to a standoff on the border.

The U.S., not wanting a war to break out while it was invading Afghanistan, managed to get the two to calm down and the event was pretty much forgotten, even today.

What if they had gone to war? How would the War on Terror proceed with India and Pakistan going at it?

The evacuation of expatriate business people and panic in their stock exchanges didn’t hurt there either.

Well, Pakistan won't help the US out in Afghanistan, to be sure. Won't be able to use their airspace as long as the fighting is going on either, which would make the job more difficult.

Of course, if the India-Pakistan war goes nuclear everybody is going to have bigger problems.

December 2001? India gets a bloody nose, IOTL it was February and March until India's Offensive posture was anywheren near complete, IOTL in December with Pakistan fully mobilized you literally had Indian troops coming up to the border a battalion at a time. This experience led to a sea change in Indian doctrine, they keep more troops at the border now and secondly have reorganized.

April 2002, depends on whether India get get sufficient troops in crucial sectors.
