What butterflys would an inderpendent pre WW2 Italian Eritrea cause?
What type of goverment chosen?
Leadership?

Huh? How on earth does Eritrea gain independence at the height of Italy's colonial empire?

God knows, maybe history changed and they picked the wrong side in the First World War.

Why Eritrea of all places wouldn't be beaten back into submission befuzzles me, it's not like they're the type of "let's just hold this place as long as we can knowing we'll lose it eventually" kind of possession like India was for Britain.

Instead of fascism, the socialist party rise against monarchy and install a republic. The entente powers, still weary after WW1, decide to not get involved.

The new italian goverment, led by Gramsci, decide that colonies are inacceptable and contrary to socialist doctrine. So they set out to make the italian possessions indipendent, after a period of preparation.

In the '30s Erithrea is awarded indipendence (under a socialist goverment, of course...).
