Indepedent Septinsular Republic

I 'm curently thinking of rewritting an old TL, so I thought some discussion before that would be useful.

So, do you think that a more indepedent Septinsular Republic is possible if the locals decide to aside with Britain in 1807, instead of accepting the secret articles of the Tislit treaty? By "more indepedent" I mean that there could be some degree of foreign (British or joint of the Holy Alliance) influence, but not to the degree of the United States of the Ionian Islands .

Do you think the Greek War of Independence would be much different in this TL? Could the Septinsular Republic intervene?
What would be the stance of Austria in that case?

Thanks in advance!

Any ideas on the impact of an early independent state in the Balkans in the begining of the 19th century?

Well, for starter i can see the Greek Independence movement heavily promoted by the Septinsular Republic. But i don't know, if it gets protections from European powers it could even start a war to end the "Sick Man of Europe" when the opportunity comes. But i don't know much about Ottoman history, so who knows.

I don't think its prestige could rival the one of Russia amongst the Orthodox Church, but maybe if the British Empire promotes nationalist riots in the Ottoman Balkans to prevent a Russian takeover, you could end up with an uber Greece, allied/puppet of the Brits, who could even hold Constantinople because of the strait issue, if they get lucky.
