In Nanjing, on the grounds where the Ming Palace once stood, a western style regional palace is built.

Construction of this magnificent palace would begin in 1900 and last up to 1910. The overall design is influenced by the Xiyang Lou, the Royal Palace of Caserta, the Royal Palace of Capodimonte, and the Royal Palace of Naples, creating a unique mix of Italian Baroque architecture and Chinese architecture. The Guangxu Emperor (who doesn't have to worry about Dowager Empress Cixi interfering as she died in 1875 in this timeline) would stay there during tours of Nanjing and would also host western style balls on select occasions.
