Dust cover photograph of Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross from his biography Struck Twice. Secretary of State under President Matthew Ellis, Ross ascended to the position of President himself when the Thanos Decimation wiped out much of the Presidential line of succession. Ross's tenure as President was marked by extreme instability both at home and abroad and the assumption of significant emergency powers to handle the fallout of crisis. The stress of the Decimation would have a significant effect on Ross's health, particularly the loss of his daughter. Ross would surrender much of this power as the situation in america stabilised and announcing he would not be running for election in 2020, saying he'd "rather be remembered as a Cincinnatus then a Caesar"
Still think MCU Trump and real life figures/events is more interesting, but agree that Ross being President during the five years is a good call.Honestly- leave Trump out of the MCU.
I think we/Marvel would be better off using fictional Presidents from Ellis onward- makes life a lot simpler, and AoS, Avengers: Endgame, and Far from Home, never mention a President Trump- so I am running with its a fictional Pres rather than anyone from real life, as cop out/unlikely as all that.
So Ellis is elected for the for the first time in 2012, then again in 2016, (he is referenced in 2017 as Pres), he's still there come SNAP day on May 31st 2018 - date from: https://marvelcinematicuniverse.fandom.com/wiki/2018.
Way back at the start of the Thread @NickRome posted Secretary of State Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross becomes President after "President, Vice President, Speaker of the House, and President pro tempore of the Senate were all confirmed to be among the billions who vanished." - Lets run with that.
For Reference: Hulk's snap is on October 17, 2023 - https://marvelcinematicuniverse.fandom.com/wiki/2023
Far from Home: the trip would be June 27th-July 3rd 2024.

A blurred image of a computer-generated reconstruction of the crash of Flight 300, the plane President Ross' daughter was on during the Decimation with both pilots were on were dusted and Samantha Ross was amongst the doomed passengers on the flight, who, while not "dusted", were doomed to die once the plane ran out of fuel, as indicated by how the final tweet on her twitter account was posted after the snap.
Note: I know that you might have intended for her to be dusted, but yeah, considering that all you mentioned was that Ross lost his daughter, I interpreted it as her dying from the plane she was in becoming a ghost plane from the pilots being dusted and running out of fuel.
Is that Character Development I spy?Similar to the comics,Ross may become an antihero following his loss.![]()

I was referring to Betty Ross, who the directors confirmed as getting dusted and later brought back by Bruce Banner using the Infinity stones. But Ross having a second daughter could work too. Comic and movie characters are always suddenly developing new family members who were never mentioned but always there apparently.![]()

Ross from Civil War and Infinity War struck me as more of just an asshole with genuine concerns then outright villainous. You probably still want to sock him in the nose but he isn’t plotting on blowing up hospitals for giggles or release deadly viruses on anybody. His book probably also tries to paint him as a man making difficult decision in an impossible time. I’m running with the idea that the government and military only allowed him so much emergency power because of promises at the very start he’d step down. There’s probably a lot of Ross as Clone Wars Palpatine memes floating around. Is that Character Development I spy?Similar to the comics,Ross may become an antihero following his loss.
And making ROSS sympathetic is an achievement for anyone.
He’s also the villain MODOK in Spider-Gwens reality of Earth 65Funny story:Trump IS president in Earth 616.He led the US through the War of the Realms.

I’d imagine Squadron Supreme would be the in-universe equivalent to DC comics, seeing as they are Marvels homage/pastiche of the Justice League and DC heroes in the comicsSuperman Comic published after The Thanos's Snap. DC Comic survived the snap, and was better position than Roosterteeth to publish these comics. Newest incarnation of Superman and Batman was inspired by real life Avengers, like Captain America and Iron Man. Which gained newest fandom among former avengers like Tony Stark and Steve Rogers, out of escapism.![]()
