OK, after over a month of pain and suffering, I finally have some free time and energy to write with once more.

In an effort to make forward progress easier, I am going to resume work on ONE of the irons I had in the fire. If you have interest in one of them, please vote for it. Comments and/or questions are welcome. (Please post here, not the old threads).

Links & summaries of old discussion threads:
1939: The Anglo-Japanese War
War breaks out between the British and the Japanese due to an incident in China shortly before the start of war in Europe.

President Vandenberg
FDR dies, and isolationist Arthur Vandenberg is elected in 1940. The US will enter WWII much later than OTL.

Admiral Moffet's Gambit
Moffett isn't killed in the crash of the USS Akron (1933), and uses his influence to pull the strategic bombing mission from the US Army to the US Navy.

The central focus of all three is an alt-WWII.

US entering late into the war promises far more dystopic promise.

Just for the record, none of these three is an "Axis/Germany/Japan Wins" TL. I'm not sure such a TL is plausible, and certainly such a TL is beyond my imagination. The Axis/Germany/Japan will have some victories they didn't IOTL in all three, certainly, but the end result of any WWII I can imagine is an Allied Victory.

Still, if dystopia is your thing, Pres. Vandenberg is the way to go. :-}

Anyone have comments? 1939 and Pres. Vandenberg are out in front; what do you like/dislike about the potential of those TLs?

I like the Idea of the 1939 Anglo- Jap war. It would be something new, and give a different feel to the war and post war world

I voted Admiral Moffet but now I'm thinking President Vandenberg would be much more interesting. If USA enter war much later than OTL it would make them much more prepared and able to screw over many more people. Either way I look forward to both.

I'll count an extra vote towards Vandenberg then.

In an effort to bump this while still adding some substance, I'm tossing in a bit of my notes from the 1940 portion of the 1939 Anglo-Japanese war TL.

April 12: First Battle of Singapore; the Japanese attack is repulsed with heavy losses.

(ETO) April 25: Finland capitulates to the USSR. The Allies hold Narvik and a fragile supply line to Kemi, but the rest of Scandinavia to the south and east is under either Soviet or Axis control.

(ETO) May 24: Germany invades the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, and France.

May 25: The Japanese, informed in advance of Germany’s planned invasion of the Low Countries, invade the DEI.

May 27: BFDA (British French Dutch Australian) HQ is formed.

(US) June 2: The US announces a complete embargo against Japan and Germany.

June 8: Battle of Java Sea; BFDAFlot forces mauled by the IJN while attempting to transport Allied troops to the DEI.

(ETO) July: The USSR annexes the Baltic States.

(ETO) July 2: Italy invades France.

(ETO) July 10: Fall of Paris; Prime Minister Paul Reynaud withdraws the government to Algeria. Surviving military units begin to withdraw towards Marseille and Brest, hoping to establish a pair of lodgments on the continent supported from the sea.

(ETO) July 18: A vote of no confidence in the current government fails by a slim margin in Great Britain.

(US) August 14: The US concludes a deal with GB, transferring 40 old destroyers to the RN in exchange for basing rights at various locations in the Empire.

(ETO) August 15: The Tripartite Pact is signed between Germany, Japan, and Italy.

Why would they invade the low countries and France 14 days later? Also, why is in comparison with OTL is the fall of Paris much later(47 days instead of OTL 25 days)?

Can't recall off the top of my head why I changed the first date. :-}

The fall of Paris is delayed because the Germans don't have quite as much success ITTL (they are a little less lucky than IOTL).
