This is the last iteration of the IL2 series of WW2 combat flight sim computer games developed by IC Maddox in Russia (sold in the west by UbiSoft), which includes a lengthy campaign set in a remarkably detailed alternate history (PoD = the Normandy invasion fails). As far I can tell so far, the backstory includes the failed invasion, an anti-Hitler coup followed by a brief Wehrmacht/SS civil war, some sort of armistice or 2nd "phoney war" between the western allies and Germany, amistice/surrender negotiations between the USSR and the coup leaders in Germany, and then a full resumption of the USSR-German war in 1946 when a new batch of nazis take charge (I think). You fly as either a German pilot, initially involved in the coup and civil war, or as a Russian engaged in the reinvigorated eastern front. The sim throws in lots of experimental '46 type planes (early Russian jets, gobs of German jets, etc) to suppliment the standard piston types.
