If US broke up, could other nations as well?

Many threads talk about the USA if each state were to go independent (with various POD times), but COULD that lead to a precedent where we see Mexico then do the same, where a very early and non-American led Tejas, a New California, New Mexico, and various other "states" or "kingdoms" in OTL Mexico? Question inspired by map below.

Difficult given the context of geopolitical elites. Broadly speaking, the new countries that formed wanted to keep the territories of the viceroyalties.

Mexico is made even harder since her northern territories were just so underpopulated compared to the 'core' territories so its just so easy for the Federal District to just send a large army to distant regions and crush them. Central America and Yucatan notwithstanding.

The only exceptions are in Comanche populated regions of Texas but they lack the administrative systems to carve out their own state (or the means to get foreign recognition).
