First Trotsky would have purged the Secret police and the politburo of the anti-Leninists, such as Stalin, had emplaced in power. Next he would have granted further land and usery reforms to the Kulaks empowering them to participate in the State market. As a conscience the USSR would not have industrialized as quickly as it had under Stalin. Stalin forced land owners to give up their property, thus granting an incredible boost to industry at the expense of nearly ten million lives.
I don’t Believe that Trotsky would have purged the Soviets; instead, he would have focused on more outwardly aggressive polices toured other countries. Trotsky was a true Leninist and believed that socialism should be a worldwide revolution, and not just an insular phenomenon in Russia. . The USSR would depend on Europe for providing industry so gaining a foot hold in Europe would be crucial. The former Prussian empire and other central European countries were in dire financial straits and the idea of communism was widely known throughout Europe. I believe that Trotsky would have sent soldiers and arms to Prussia in the hopes of provoking a socialist revolution, thus; a civil war would erupt across the former Prussian empire just as there had been in Spain during the 1930’s
The prospect of a socialist revolt in the heart of Europe would be terrifying to the burgesses. The ruling elite of the world would impose harsh sanctions on any socialist provisional government and contrary wise would aid the puppet government of Germany with money and soldiers, thus negating the possibility for a Hitlerite to gain power in the German chancellery. The burgesses would take great personal interest in the wellbeing of the puppet Prussian government and not let it fall to the way side as they did IRL.
Meanwhile in the USA, the great depression would rage on without a massive military engagement to stimulate industry. Trotsky would have no doubt insighted unrest with the unwashed masses of America, and no doubt a socialist revolution would take place in the USA. This would give the American government an excuse to employ a larger army and police force to crush the revolution. In the end I see the communists destroyed in America and a more hardline fascistic government developing. The USA would without a doubt attack the empire of Japan next; they were already amassing a war flotilla at pearl harbor IRL.
Back in Europe the Civil war would come to ahead with the invasion of the USSR. I see a European union formed under the burgesses’ banner to stop the red scourge once and for all. Japan would take advantage of this and invade Siberia. I don’t believe the USSR would stand a chance; they barely survived after the far of the Czar. Another revolution would take place in Russia to oust the communists and with the aide of the EU they would succeed. The Chinese would rise up against the Japanese just as they did IRL and USA would nuke japan. With no communists to stop the Fascist USA, they would next annex Korea, Indo china, and Manchuria. USA would use Japan as a port between America and the sweet shops of Asia. I see the EU and the USA entering a cold war. The EU would support Chinese rebels and something like a Vietnam taking place across the east. Meanwhile the USSA would support Arab rebels to fight the EU in the oil wells of the Middle East. Who would have thought the life of One man would have changed to much.
As an addendum I would ad that Trotsky wouldn't have industrialized the USSR in time to withstand an invasion. The USSR couldn’t win against a tiny country such as Finland IRL, and the Soviet success against the Nazis was largely due to American intervention. Also, if the Japanese invaded Siberia it would have greatly crippled their industrial capacity. Toured the end of my war, it would be possible for Japan to surrender to USA in the hopes that they would be able to keep Siberia and Manchuria. Also Trotsky wasn’t as aggressive toured the soviet people and would have a harder time manipulating them. Many Soviets hated Trotsky because of his Jewish and Burgesses origins. Also people there were people in the army that had a score to settle with Trotsky because of decimation they suffered at his orders during the Russian civil war. One thing Trotsky had though was a better understanding of military tactics than Stalin had. Also Stalin purged the Army of its best generals and nearly lost the war because of it. Trotsky no doubt would have kept them; although, on a long leash.
