If Theodore Roosevelt had died in 1912, would the Progressive Party had lasted longer

Okay, so everybody knows about TR's run in 1912. He get's shot in Milwaukee, but is protected by his eyeglass case. What if he had placed it on the stand and the bullet kills him?

Would this be better for fellow Progressives actually forming a party that actually lasts. The problem with TR was that he ran in 1912 basically because Taft had not been a good sucessor to TR which made him mad, so he went and ran against Taft when he couldn't get the GOP nomination. If he died though, would Progressives like Hiram Johnson, Robert LaFollette and Gifford Pinchot continue with a progressive party. It obviously wound't win in 1912, but maybe it lasts longer, maybe even until today. Would this be possible?
