What would happen if,somehow, the hijackers of the third plane managed to hit the White House?
Would we see a harder War on Terror?

Maybe he would have gone down to the bunkers?Wasn't Cheney in the White House on 9/11?
I believe he was in the PEOC Bunker at the time along with others in the Bush Administration. It was built to withstand a nuclear hit, so I think that he and the others would survive. Would be a very awe inspiring sight for them to emerge from the bunker to the rubble and devestation.Wasn't Cheney in the White House on 9/11?
Thanks for clearing that up.I believe he was in the PEOC Bunker at the time along with others in the Bush Administration. Would they survive a 757 slamming into them at high speed?Maybe he would have gone down to the bunkers?
How much would a nuclear hit be? Obviously not directly to the White House, but let's say the Capitol or nearby.Would they survive a 757 slamming into them at high speed?
If we're working under the assumption it's United 93, that's a 757-200 going at it's top speed....
Assuming we're near Max Takeoff Weight, looking more like 245Klb, going at it's top speed, that's 571MPH....
That is a lot of joules slamming into the WH. 3,760,395,749.9789 joules or so.
Let's see, 1 megatonne's about 4.184 petajoules....How much would a nuclear hit be? Obviously not directly to the White House, but let's say the Capitol or nearby.
(If we're talking specifically about a bunker) isn't a bunker going to be below ground level, and so not going to have the majority (or indeed any) of the force of direct impact directed at it?Would they survive a 757 slamming into them at high speed?

The House could theoretically survive.
No, that's how much force my hypothetical plane is in terms of TNT.That's if the Capitol Building is hit by a Nuke?
Not really, the idea behind that is more of a pipe dream then anything, if DC's getting nuked, it's probably getting a direct ICBM target on it.My idea is that if the bunker can withstand a Nuclear hit to Washington,
Not sure how to do joules, as I'm clueless at Physics. A direct nuclear hit of 2 Megatons is something like 10000 PSI. That ring of destruction includes all of the White House. How much PSI would it be if the third plane hit it?Not really, the idea behind that is more of a pipe dream then anything, if DC's getting nuked, it's probably getting a direct ICBM target on it.
Hey, I had to find some online calcs and use the statistics from the 757-200 and make a lot of assumptions. Not sure how to do joules, as I'm clueless at Physics. And likely even if it wasn't that bad, think of all the rubble that would have to be cleared to get entrance to the bunker, albeit the White House isn't as massive as the WTC, but it's still pretty big. Most likely the survivours would die to suffocation when the air runs out. That's not to say it ain't tough, but in this case, I ain't betting on a lot of survivors in there.
Can you imagine that experience?I believe he was in the PEOC Bunker at the time along with others in the Bush Administration. No one has ever admitted what the WH bunker is designed to withstand. The best you can find is "survive a "near miss" from a 25mT weapon". The odds are you could survive a direct hit from a jetliner without much difficulty. Supplies, including bottled air, for 30 days would be pretty much an automatic, although far longer would be anything but a surprise. The Secret Service and DoD are nothing if not excessively paranoid.Hey, I had to find some online calcs and use the statistics from the 757-200 and make a lot of assumptions.
My guess is close to that, but not quite the same. The bunker in DC isn't rated to take a direct hit from a nuke, it's meant more of a salve to someone's peace of mind then anything.

Rebuilt. No need to turn make an enormous tombstone in the middle of the capital. Besides, where else would they put the President's house?Would the White House be rebuilt the same as before or would a memorial be built in its place instead?
