If the coalition had faced the best Soviet made weapons in the Gulf War?

How would the M1 Abrams, Challengers, F-15s, F-16s fare against SU-27s, the best Mig-29s, T-72s, and T-80s operated by the best Soviet crews and pilots?

Would coalition losses be higher?

Operated by the best Soviet crews? Obviously. How much higher depends on if the Iraqis were leading the army or if Soviet generals were in charge.

its a matter of numbers too , Iraqi AF had 20+ mig-29, 25 Mig-25 , 80 mirage F1 against hundreds of coalition aircraft
if all PVO Su-27s in 1990 ( there were 350) and half of VVS Mig-29 ( 400 + ) , with all their support services ( AWACS and their AA-11 archers) magically appear in Iraq then yes coalition will have a rough time esp much higher aircraft losses. This is pre-AMRAAM era so F-16 dont have the long spear to tangle with the fulcrums/flankers.
but they will still win though
just a few squadorns more will not make any difference at all

coalition losses would be higher even if saddam was not in charge but a competent arab general

Losses would be greater in the initial phases of the air war. Unless you are adding entire wings/groups/whatever-Iraq-calls-them, the Iraqi air force can not sustain the attrition. Days. Weeks, maybe.

I suspect land war would go the same. One the coalition has air supremacy, it doesn't matter how good the Iraqi army's equipment is. The coalition's air power will continue to hammer it until it is no longer a threat.

Those were thin on the ground. For some reason, the Venn diagram of 'Competent Military skills' and 'Politically Reliable' didn't intersect that much in the Arab Countries this Century.

It's like the Notzis. You change their skill set, they aren't Nazis anymore

A competent leader probably wouldn't be in charge of the Baath party, and wouldn't have pulled that stunt in Kuwait in the first place if in power

Large quantities of Iraqi equipment were not operated at all. In a 1990s issue of the Field Artillery Journal there was a bit describing how the Iraqis deployed 36 counter battery radar sets. Only one was activated, during the long workup. Allied DF located it and a artillery strike run on the position. None of the others were know to have been activated. Many were not even deployed, remaining in travel mode on their vehicles. One was described as deployed in a cluster of tall buildings, which would have scrambled the signal returns.
