If some ASBs gave Pat Buchanan the Presidency in 1992, would the Waco Siege have still happened?

I’m actually inclined to say yes. Waco was largely the result of the ATF’s overzealousness, but there were still (validly) held beliefs that abuse was occurring. I do believe that whoever Uncle Pat appoints as AG would take a more competent job than Janet Reno, who was arguably the one of the worst AG’s in history quite frankly. But massacre or no massacre, Koresh was bound to have been arrested at some point.

Arresting Koresh would have been easy. There wasn't any need for a siege or bloodshed or the like. He jogged regularly with a predictable path if memory serves. He could have been picked up easily if 'Operation Showtime' wasn't the desire.

Exactly. I may be a bit biased when discussing the Clintons (I voted for and met Donald Trump), but if there’s one thing I know for certain it’s that Janet Reno wanted to set an example. May she rot in hell for that.

I don’t blame Clinton himself for what happened, but as I said, Buchanan would have handled this better. He doesn’t strike me as one who would interfere with the ATF investigation due to his respect for law enforcement, but he wouldn’t have allowed the scene to escalate as it did.

Apologies to mods if this response is too political.
