If slavery had been banned, could the American civil war still happen?

Could the American civil war still happen without slavery?

If the United States had taken care of the issue of slavery early on before it became a true problem (ex: it's banned in the constitution, or Jefferson manages to eliminate it during his term), could an alt ACW happen at all under the scenario? Could there be war over States rights or anything else?

No not likelyin the short timer but in the long term prov becasue the power of the federal government would be singfactly weaker which would mean that we would have more nullification crisis again

Could there be a conflict in which a bunch of states secede and attempt to form their own nation, and the National government fights to maintain the eternal union? And would these states be located in the general South? No, I dont think so. Of course States Rights was a lie and the Civil War was only about slavery, so the nature of that conflict cannot come to be in an America which has abolished it. There could be a Civil War, for example, maybe in the 1850s or so there is an extremely close fought election between a Whig (if the Party survives) and Democratic candidate in which the outcome is not accepted by the loser (maybe Congress refuses to certify the Electoral Votes of the winning candidate and selects the other one) and thus 2 factions fight for who is the "legitimate" givernment of the Unites States

Of course, had there been any determined effort to outlaw slavery in the Constitution, North and South would have been separate countries from the get-go, so the question of civil war would not arise.

A South Carolinian secession crisis could be considered a civil war. So, yes, a civil war could have occurred.

What if a civil war happened when the new England States attempt to secede after a worse war of 1812 as opposed to a civil war in the 1860s? Just a suggestion
