Would it have prevented the mishmash of governmental stresses that precedent alone couldnt solve?

Oh, and don't forget that Marcus Antonius, Octavian and Lepidus actually bothered changing the unwritten Roman constitution: the Lex Titia of 43 BCE legalized their absolute power and the subsequent slaughter of the republican elite.

If the Roman constition had been a written one, the Titian Law could at least have reffered to some capita* of the constitution to legalize the political murders.

*The Roman word for articles or sections of laws.
