If Miguel da Paz survives would Brazil speak Castilian?

If Miguel da Paz survives and becomes the King of Portugal, Castile and Aragon would Brazil be Portuguese speaking or would Castile come to dominate Portugal and so all Iberian colonies would speak Castilian. He would become king of all three countries in 1521 by which time though he would have first become King of Castile and then Aragon as his grandparents died.

Also what is the likelihood of a Portuguese Independence war happening down the road. Since the King of Portugal became the King of Spain and not the other way around it should reduce the likelihood. Kind of when the King of Scotland became the King of England.

Um Portuguese obviously. A union of Crowns doesn't mean a union of languages. If the colonies originally spoke Portuguese then that's the language they will keep.

But Brazil hasn't really started to be colonised yet. They know about it but they haven't really started the colonisation process. So will the Crown of Portugal be solely responsible for colonising Brazil or will it be a joint operation.

First colonization began in 1500, so it would already be a Portuguese colony by the time Miguel inherits Portugal. Second, it would only be a Portuguese affair. All of the OTL Spanish colonies were Castilian affairs despite being in union with Aragon. Internal policies such as taxation, armed forces and colonization were jealously guarded by the nobles of each nation. Remember Spain as a centralized nation only came about in the early 1700s with the Nueva Planta decrees. Before that they were numerous Crowns held by one man.

Before 1530 there were no permanent settlements, just the occasional expeditions here and there to extract brazilwood.

Assuming he's raised in Castille and is himself culturally Castillian, he could well end up endowing Castillians with capitanias etc, in such a way that the Portuguese are edged out of the nominally Portuguese colonies.
