hey, all. i was wondering this recently: in North America at least, Mexico is one of the better-known countries (and is indeed an emerging power right now IOTL). but what if Mexico was in better sorts right from the get-go? let's say that, following the Mexican-American War, the country gets its act together and becomes a much more stable and wealthier state, beginning to industrialize in the 1870s as well as establishing telegraph lines and education systems, and with the older social classes (starting to) dissolving around the turn of the 20th century. sometime after the war ends (however long enough it needs to be for the wounds of war and conquest to heal), Mexico also becomes an ally of the United States

how different from OTL's Mexico does everyone think the country would be, both historically and by the present-day?
