If JFK had lived?

Curious to know what the world could be like now, if JFK had not been assassinated.

In particular how far ahead would we be in space tech?

Just read anything rouge beaver has written lol. He tends to kill off too many people for my taste though, still amazing AH writer and researcher.

This has been done to death- here's the latest comprehensive thread.

In summary...

Domestic

- JFK v. Goldwater '64: JFK landslide slightly smaller than LBJ IOTL.
- New Frontier programs pass after Democratic supermajorities (2-1 in the House and Senate IOTL) are returned to the House and Senate.
- No Great Society.
- Less of an emphasis on the poor compared to LBJ.
- Cabinet shuffle: McNamara goes to State, Rusk to the UN, RFK to Defense, and Katzenbach to Justice.
- Space: "I don't give a damn about space." Space was a prestige project- the moonshot and he didn't give a damn what happened later.

Foreign

- Detente with the Soviet Union.
- Attempt at an early SALT I
- Too early for PRC recognition.
- Continuation of OTL Vietnamization strategy.
- Quiet termination of the Alliance for Progress (starting in 1963 IOTL)

Electoral

Nixon v. HHH or Nixon v. RFK '68. Nixon beats Humphrey, 50-50 in a Nixon v. RFK matchup.

- Depending who wins, things develop from there.
