If J.P. Morgan never lived?

I don't know. Just ignoring his industrial ventures how important was he to helping organise the private syndicate supply the US treasury with gold when they almost ran out of it during the Panic of 1893? If he could be replaced with another highly rich individual to help coordinate things then that's not a problem, if however he was a central figure that either couldn't be easily replaced or was irreplaceable then things are going to be much worse. In a worst case scenario could it force the US off the gold standard and/or turn the panic into a depression?

To expand on Simon, J.P literally called up the heads of several railroads guys, and other important to industry men, to a meeting. At this meeting he railroaded the men (sorry, couldnt help myself :D ) and forced them into monopolies with each other. He also standardized much of what these guys did and how they would thus forth work and operate. At this time the world/U.S economy was small enough for one man to make such a difference, afterwards there would be no such man in hte '30's.
