In modern day around half the estimated speaker of Franco-Provençal live in Aosta valley, which only make of the small south easten corner of the language range, in Swizerland and France in has been disappearing since the late 19th century. If we see Italy keep Savoy would we see a greater survival of language or even see it develop into a national movement.

Italy recognized franco-provençal (they call it "Arpitan" that I prefer) as distinct from French only very recently in Aosta Valley. Under Italian Republican rule, Aosta Valley has bilingual status, but the second language is still French, not Arpitan. If Savoy is included, Italy may have an interest in an earlier recognition of Arpitan to check French territorial ambitions so the language could fare better than under the French uniforming linguistic yoke :).

Btw, Arpitan has nothing to do with Romand, spoken in Eastern Switzerland, and the related Ladin languages of northeastern Italy.
