If I Had Two Heads...

Christine of Denmark married Francesco II Sforza, Duke of Milan, in 1533/1534. His death in November 1535 ended the house of Sforza.

What if he were to have left her pregnant with a son? Would she stay in Milan as regent? Or still head to Margarethe of Austria's court to await remarriage, leaving her son in the care of a Milanese regency council?

I'd guess she would initially stay in Milan as Regent. Remember this kid would not only be Duke of Milan but also heir to King Christian's Danish rights, so a valuable player for the Habsburgs, and I can't see them allowing Christine to go to the Netherlands without some trusted agent in Milan to run things.

Out of curiosity, might the descendants of Bona Sforza try to garner support for their claim to Milan. And the survival of the Sforza would mean a new round of Italian wars with the Valois asserting their Visconti claim.

Weren't there more Franco-Italian wars anyway? I seem to remember a certain French king dying because of a jousting wound during the celebrations of the marriage of his daughter to cement the Peace of Cateau-Cambresis.

Yes, Henry II and the Italian War of 1551-59. And the daughter was Elisabeth Valois to Philip II. But that would likely be butterflies away so Henry could start a second or third war in the 1560s or 70s.

Could Elisabeth still marry Don Carlos then, or no? Who might she marry with no Spanish match? I've never heard of another proposal being on the cards for her.

Who might be considered a reasonably pro-Imperial governor for Milan? Margaret, Dowager Duchess of Florence?

And if Christine weren't to go to the Netherlands, and marry François I of Lorraine, who might he marry instead?

Okay, so another consideration for duchess of Lorraine was, irony of ironies, Anne of Cleves, OTL Queen of England. So she might end as a duchess rather than a queen. But otherwise, bump.

I think Henry VIII can marry Christina of Milan if...

John of Denmark marries Mary Tudor while his sister Christina of Milan can marry Henry VIII..that might mean a return of the Danish-English empire of Canute.

Henry was rather iffy on Mary getting married in general AFAIK. However, Mary was briefly proposed as a bride for Philip of Bavaria, cousin to Queen Anne of Cleves (and also for Anne's brother, the Duke) at a point. So, even if Henry agrees to a double marriage, and then walks back from marrying Mary and Hans, but still marries Christine, then sure.

Hans was dead by this time, and he died three years before Christine even became duchess of Milan, so perhaps a double butterfly?

Also, I fail to see how if Mary and Hans marry, it would necessarily mean a restoration of an Anglo-Danish empire? Hans was a dispossessed prince (might make him more attractive to Henry), and if Christine gives Henry still another one or two sons (not impossible, just unlikely, since most historians think he was already shooting blanks), they would be ahead of Mary in the succession. So, even if Ed dies on schedule, he'll still be followed by Christine's son by Henry, and then Lady Mary, Lady Elizabeth, Mary Tudor, duchess of Suffolk's line, Margaret Tudor's line...
