"If God Spares Me..." Henry IV Becomes King Earlier

In OTL, Henry IV (or Henry of Navarre) was opposed by the Catholic League for his Protestant faith, although he later converted after becoming recognized as King. His reign was notable for bringing stability back to France following the Wars of Religion and he remains regarded as one of France's better kings. My question is, WI Henry was able to take Paris earlier and manages to become King while still a Protestant? Is he still able to rule as effectively as he did in OTL, or does he become a deposed or assassinated monarch before his time?

The Wars of Religions were a terrible civil conflict and ravaged France throughout the second half of the XVIth Century. Henri de Navarre was a great soldier and he won some decisive battles but he was an even greater politic. He knew the pacification of his kingdom could not be accomplished by the arms. Without the religious issue, his adversaries were just ambitious barons manipulated and founded by Spain - in a word, traitors. So Henri HAD to convert. Besides, as a Catholic, he would then be in a much better position to offer liberties to the Protestants, as he did with the Edit de Nantes in 1598.
