If American TV/film wasn't centered in Hollywood, where else could it be?

Not in this time period. Las Vegas is nothing. It needs the Hoover Dam, gambling to be re-legalised and growth of domestic flights to start to come into it's own.
One thing I did wonder earlier; how about Salt Lake City? Or would the Mormon dominance be simply all too much?

the film industry went to Cali to escape Edison's patents. If Cali (like the rest of the US) is enforcing Edison's patents then the industry either stays in place or ditches the US entirely to relocate to Canada.
