Idi Amin invades Kenya

I have to admit I'm curious exactly what British units would take part.

The British retain a training area in Kenya along with training units etc - individual Battalion and sub units rotate through the country

Also I do believe that Britain retained a defence agreement with Kenya so even if no units in country some would come a running.

Also the Kenyan army is no slouch

Around this time the Kenyan Air Force had 6x Hawker Hunters and 6x BAC Strikemasters. These are quite good for attacking ground targets. Even better would be anything the RAF could fly in at short notice and use the Ugandan Army for target practice. It's not quite the same as hitting masses of Soviet tanks rolling over the Fulda Gap but they'll still get paid for it.
Ideally the RAF would bring in Harriers for the ground attack role as they can be based nearly anywhere but Jaguars would also be good for both light strikes and fast air defence. Having a bunch of Vulcans drop a full load of heavy bombs on enemy troops is a sure way to demoralise them.

The downside is the Mig-21s and Mig-17s that Uganda operate which could pose a nasty aerial threat. There's also the Fouga Magisters they could use for striking at the Kenyan Army.

The British Army units would mostly be light infantry with several trucks and maybe some armoured cars. Flying in a regiment of light artillery and some anti-tank weapons would be very easy.

Wow, yes. Discussing killing human beings and a military masacre as "target practise".
I can understand saying that the Ugandan army wouldn't stand a chance but calling it "target practise" is more appropriate to discussing colonial game hunters than wars between people

Yeah, and if Amin is taken out by a western ally, rather than a quasi-Fabian third-worldist, there might be a little more lionization of the invasion in the US and the UK. OTL, I'm sure the west was happy to see an anti-Israel, terrorist-hugger taken out by anyone who was up to it, but I'd imagine they weren't all that crazy about it being Nyerere in particular. If it's Moi stepping up to the plate, he might get himself a few more complimentary mentions among speechmakers in DC and London.

Sorry for replying after a month and being pedantic but, as this war would be in 1976, it would be Kennyatta, not Moi.
