Historically, Bhutto's Appeal was dismissed by a 4-3 margin and he was duly hanged. One of the reasons that Zia did not really interfere with the process is that he had been advised that the evidence was enough to send him down anyway. And the advise was correct, at Trial.
It was on appeal that the case began to come apart. With this years reopening of Bhutto's case, it has come to light that all seven judges thought that Bhutto was probably guilty, and they were all unimpressed with the way the trial had been conducted. As it was the three dissenting judges felt that the nature of the Trial made the conviction unsafe, which the majority disagreed. In this TL, one or two of the other judges will most likely go to the otherside.
So, how will zia face a alive Bhutto. And what about Afghanistan. Need some good ideas.
