Ideas for a new timeline

Hey guys. So I'm a recent convert from the Dave Leip forum and I was wondering if you guys had any ideas for a timeline that I could do. It could be any possible topic, and I'll do the needed research before hand. My specialty is in American politics, but I love learning and what-not. I also like to do text-book style timelines, but I've had a good time doing less traditional styles. Anyway, I'm at you're service.

If no one else does it (and it was proposed by someone else as a TL they could do, but wasn't popularly voted) what about Leonard Wood becoming President in 1920? I'd also be interested in Charles E. Hughes becoming President in 1916. Or perhaps a TL where Wilson's debilitation after his stroke becomes evident rather than being successfully hidden and Thomas R. Marshall succeeds him.

If I may blow my own trumpet, I did one on the latter theme some years back. It's online at

I only ever took it to about 1922 so I suppose it's in the public domain now. Some of it is rather low probability, but I had a lot of fun doing it.

Oh hey HC! :D

This POD may not have the most immediate impact, but the butterflies could grow and expand. How about Chappaquiddick not happening?

well my ideas:

Henry Clay turns the Speaker into American PM
Frederick Douglass President of the USA
James Garfield lives and leads to a fight that rips the GOP apart between the Stalwarts and the Half-Breeds
William McKinley lives, no TR

Well old friend, Good to see you over here on AH. Com, as for a TL tackle...Im not sure how large of a project your looking at tackling but, the American TL Trio(RB, Nort and I) have had a thorough discussion on what a Two Term Nixon Presidency from 1961 to 1969 would look like here: https://www.alternatehistory.com/discussion/showthread.php?t=144345

Now, we've hashed out many of the policy differences, changes to the party and begun tackling the counterculture, so you would largely already be set up for the sixties, and then your imagination can run wil for the rest of the TL:D
